Tourism Recovery only in 2010

The negative trend in international tourism that emerged during the second half of 2008 intensified in 2009.
In view of the rapidly deteriorating global economic situation, economic growth prospects have repeatedly been adjusted downwards over the past six months. While at the time of the previous UNWTO forecast in January, the International Monetary Fund was still counting on positive growth over 2% for the world economy in 2009, a decline of 1.3% is now expected.
Tourism is seriously impacted, given the sharp reduction in business activity, decreasing disposable income and associated increased unemployment, particularly in key tourism source markets. Exchange rate fluctuations have added to the general uncertainty and business and consumer confidence have yet to recover. Furthermore, the level of advanced bookings, coupled with the reduction in airline capacity, make recovery before 2010 difficult.
There is additional uncertainty regarding the future of the influenza A(H1N1) virus and its effect on demand in the short to medium term. It should be stressed, however, that at the moment no restrictions on international travel are recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Taking account of the results for the first four months of the year and the current conditions, worldwide growth in international tourist arrivals is expected to end up between -6% and -4% for the full year. The pace of decline is expected to soften in the remainder of the year, with the months May-August projected at between -6% and -4%, and September-December between -5% and -3%.

Travelling in the Space

Under construction the new port for the Space in New Mexico, from which the first shuttle to the Space will be launched by Virgin Galactic, which will be soon follewed by other space companies.
"The future of the space will be here and we are not far from a new space era," says Ceo Steve Landeene". " Our main goal is not only to bring tourists out of the atmosphere of the Earth but also to increase reaserch. Tourist will allow to cut cost for aerospacial missions".

IMPROVING TOURISM TOWARDS " SLOW DESTINATION" A NEW TRENDS TOWARD
Città slow, slow life, or slow town, has become an international movement, which promotes a good quality of life. I love it !!
This movement has strong links with Slow Food (the opposite concept of Fast Food, in which Mc Donalds leads) , and began life in October 1999, during the food festival in Orvieto, Umbria my region and the place where I work in Italy. While Slow Food is open for individuals to join as members, membership of Cittaslow is open to towns, which must have a population under 50,000. Organisations can also join as Cittaslow Supporters.
This movement promotes quality of life. The main issue are oriented to help people to set their sights on providing services and delivering projects that help residents/tourist enjoy life in their town in a relaxed and pleasant way. In Umbria where this philosophy was born we have 9 slow towns for an Umbria Slow Tour.
Visitors/Tourists are welcomed as ‘temporary residents’ and encouraged to join in the Slow lifestyle.‘Living Slow’ involves hastening slowly – "festina lente" as the Romans used to say. The Slow lifestyle respects tradition and quality, and seeks to use the best aspects of the modern world to enhance, preserve and enjoy the old ways of doing things, but not to the exclusion of progress and not for the sake of avoiding change. As the world becomes more globally connected, with international brands and values being marketed, the Slow approach to life aims to respect the small realities of daily life and encourages people along a less frantic path. The Cittaslow approach involves living life at a human scale, respecting and supporting the environment and local traditions and preserving them for current and future generations to enjoy.
Collective well-being is at the heart of the Cittaslow philosophy.
So move on... let's manage how to promote tourist towards this destinations

Low cost flights and city breaks: the new silent revolution in tourism
Silent, but conitnuosly, the change of habitudes of tourist is going further and further.
It has began some years ago with the " wedding" between Low Cost Airlines Companies and teh development of internet.
The increase of the number of flights and hub of destination gave to minor towns the great opportunity to step into international tourist flows. This made a change in tourist behaviour: to shorten traditional holidays and to spent more time in Year a Short Break, Week Ends normal (from Friday night to Sunday night) or long Week End (from Thrusday to Sunday, or from Friday to Monday) according the best flight terms, checked by onself trough internert booking systems a long time in advance.
Great opportunities are now available to commercial operators, who can intercept this change in consumers behaviour and new destination near the low cost hub can step forward to internatinal flows. An enthusiastic challenge to be built together joining talent and know how.
One thing is sure: IT DOESN'T STOP!!
Ciao
